Most anticipated books of 2018!

Hi! Happy new year ā¤ļøšŸŽ‰.

For today’s blogpost I’m going to talk about my most anticipated books of 2018. So without any further or do, let’s get started!

1. Love, hate & other filters by Shamira Ahmed.

This book is is about an Indian- American Muslim girl. Her parents want her to go to college and they want her to marry a “proper” boy. But what she actually want for herself is to go to a film school in New York with the boy she has loved for years. When she’s trying to deal with her problems, there’s a terrorist attack and the suspect shares her last name… She goes through many moments of islamophobia and tries to figure out who she is and what she wants in life.

I’m looking forward to reading this book, especially since this is a subject that we sadly have seen and heard a lot about this past year.

2. Restore me by Tahereh Mafi.

This is the 4th book in the shatter me series. I thought this series would be a trilogy, but when I found out there was going to be a 4th book, I got super excited!

I’m not going to tell too much about the story of this book, cause I might spoil the previous books. The shatter me series was such an enjoyable series and I would really recommend it to anyone who hasn’t read it yet!

3. Queen of air and darkness by Cassandra Clare. Can I just say how HYPED I am for this book? I love the dark artifices trilogy and this is the last book. Lord of shadows ended with a big cliffhanger and I’m so happy that Cassandra Clare has moved the date! I wouldn’t be able to wait 2 years after I read the last book.

Spoiler warning!

I’m super curious what’s going to happen with Emma & Julian and the curse! I just hope they will end up together and won’t hurt all the people they care about by doing that. I also really want to know if Clary will actually die.

So, this was my post for today. I hope you liked it, and if you have any recommendations for 2018, please leave them in the comments!

Reread, Rewrite or Burn šŸ’—book tag

Hi, Iā€™m back again!

Iā€™m sorry that I havenā€™t posted anything in a very long time. When I visited the USA I didnā€™t always have wifi, which made it very difficult to post anything. And after that, other things got in the way (the main reason is school of course šŸ˜‰ ). But Iā€™m here with a new book tag! This time the ā€œreread, rewrite or burn book tagā€. I actually donā€™t know who created it, but the credits go to them of course šŸ™‚

So basically you have a lot of cards with book titles on them. Each round you pick 3 random cards and choose which one you want to reread, rewrite or burn. I think itā€™s meant to be a ā€œnicerā€ version of the f*ck, marry, kill tag. But it contains burning books, which is not really nice and you should never do by the way (Iā€™m just saying it in case you didnā€™t know šŸ˜‚). Before I forget  to say it- this tag might contain spoilers!

So letā€™s get started!

Round 1:

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, the selection by Kiera Cass and  A court of mist and fury by Sarah J. Maas.

The problem with this one is that I donā€™t hate one of the books, so Iā€™m kind of making a proā€™s and conā€™s list in my head. I think Iā€™m going to reread ACOMAF, just because I liked it a 100000 times better than the first book. Now Iā€™m not sure which one I want to burn. I didnā€™t like the cheating part in the Selection, but I didnā€™t like the rushed ending of Mockingjay either. I think that I would rather rewrite Mockingjay, because I would be able to keep Prim and Finnick alive. One of the main purposes of the selection was that America had to choose between two boys,  if there wouldnā€™t be cheating, the book would be over in 5 seconds and there wouldnā€™t be the need for a sequel.

Reread: A court of mist and fury.                             Rewrite: Mockingjay.                                                 Burn: The selection.

Round 2:

Shatter me by Tahereh Mafi, the Darkest minds by Alexandra Bracken and Orgin by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

I absolutely enjoyed all of these, but The darkest minds is one of my all time favourites, so of course Iā€™m going to reread it.  I think Iā€™m going to rewrite Orgin, because practically half of the world was killed in it. And I donā€™t want to, but sadly have to burn Shatter me šŸ˜¦

Round 3:

Lady midnight by Cassandra Clare, Matched by Allie Condie and the evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin.

BURN MATCHED. That was pretty easy. Didnā€™t really enjoy the last part of you couldnā€™t tell.         Reread the evolution of Mara Dyer, I loveeeeee this book! Rewrite Lady midnight, the ending shattered my heart it tiny pieces and I think itā€™s damaged forever.

Round 4:

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, Allegiant by Veronica Roth and did I mention I love you by Estelle Maskame.

Reread Clockwork Princes, because there is probably still a whole piece of my heart somewhere and it would really like to be shattered in little pieces as well. Rewrite Allegiant, so I could make Tris less annoying. I mean the book basically contains of this:

Everyone: ā€œTris, Donā€™t do itā€

Tris: ā€œHAAHA I DONā€™T CARE Iā€™M DIVERGENTā€

And later on she does everything she was told not to do. Pretty accurate description of it to me.

And then burn Did I mention I love you? This is not because I didnā€™t enjoy it, but I donā€™t have another choice. Also I noticed the Wattpad vibe, thereā€™s nothing wrong with that but I just wanted to mention it.

Round 5:

Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets by J.K. Rowling, Lola and the boy next door by Stephanie Perkins and Red queen by Victoria Aveyard.

Iā€™m going to reread red queen. Rewrite Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets, even though I donā€™t know what I would change…

And last but not least, I would burn Lola and the boy next door. I absolutely loved Anna and the French kiss, literally everything (except the cheating part of course). But I didnā€™t like Lola, this mightā€™ve been because I couldnā€™t relate to her at all. I did like the writing, it was like Anna and the French kiss, written in a very cute way.

This was the tag guys! I hope you liked reading it and Iā€™ll see you next time! (I really donā€™t know how to end a post if you havenā€™t noticed already).

Unpopular Ā tv show opinion tag

There are a lot of different tv shows. They are all in different genres and with different storylines. Some people prefer fantasy tv shows, others like comedy better. For today’s blogpost I wanted to do a tag that I made up myself; the unpopular opinion tv show tag (I know, I still have to work on the name). I know that the unpopular opinion book tag exists, but I wanted to do it with tv shows/series. I also made up different questions for this tag, so let’s get started!

1. A tv show that you didn’t like, but that everyone else enjoyed

Once upon a time. It’s not that I hated the show, but I just thought it was kind of overrated. I (slightly) liked the first season, but I quit after that.

2. A tv couple that you like,  but a lot of people dislike.

This is going to be hard for a lot of TVD fans….

Stelena.

I know, most people like Delena, but I do prefer Elena with Stefan. Why?    Let me explain;

When I started the vampire diaries, I was on team Stelena (like most people were back then). Around season 4 I started to like Elena and Damon together and that lasted till season 5/6 or something like that.     When the show ended I started watching season 1 over again and I kinda made up a pros and cons list in my head. After a while I decided that I liked Delena, but I preferred Stelena.

3. A popular show that you want to change the ending of.

This would be Gossip girl for me. I just didn’t like the fact that Dan and Serena ended up together, #Serenate

4. An underrated show

The originals, I know that this show is pretty popular. But I feel like some people just don’t realize that it’s so much fun to watch, especially when you’ve already watched The vampire diaries. The thing is that you know who all of the main characters are because of tvd and you get to know them better šŸ™‚

5. A book adaptation that you didn’t like.

This could be game of thrones. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t really understand the storyline (I haven’t read the books. Yes, I’m ashamed).

6. A book that should be turned into a tv show.

I think I would like to see the selection by Kiera Cass as a tv show. I think the story could be an enjoyable show/series.

So this was the blogpost for today! I hoped you liked it šŸ™‚ If you have any tips for my blog or some questions, please comment them, I’d love to see themā¤ļø

Popular books I haven’t read

Hello there!                                             This blog post is going to be about popular book that I haven’t read (yet). This could be because I read the first book, but didn’t feel the need to read the next book. Or it could be because I just didn’t have the time to read it.

First of all I would like to say that if you like one of the books that I disliked, I’m sorry and please don’t be offended ā¤ļø

1

Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I own this book but I stopped reading after 30 pages. I do want to pick it up again.

2.

Vampire academy by Richelle Mead. When I started this book I head high expectations because of all of the positive reviews on YouTube and Goodreads, but I didn’t like it (I’m sorry!). I personally didn’t like the characters in the book and I think that I’m just not that into the vampire books. Sadly I couldn’t finish this book šŸ˜¦

3.

The mortal instruments by Cassandra Clare. I’ve read 3 books of this series, but I didn’t enjoy them as much as I did with the dark artifices and the infernal devices. I did enjoy the parts with Jace, but I was annoyed by Clary sometimes. The weird thing is that I really liked Clary in Lady midnight and in lord of shadows.

4.

The Harry Potter books by J.K Rowling. I’ve read the first, second and third book. I have to read the rest of the books, because I’m going to universal studios in 3 weeks (and because I want to read them of course). I liked Harry Potter and the prisoner of azkaban the most, in my opinion the storyline gets ‘darker’ than the first and the second book.

5.

Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan. I started reading The lightning thief a year ago, but I never finished the book. I don’t know why I didn’t finish it, I actually enjoyed the writing style and liked the story. I hope to read this book soon!

This was my blogpost for today. I hope you liked it!ā¤ļø

Netflix book tag

Hi,

I haven’t posted anything in a year, I’m so sorry for that. I was really busy with school, but I have a summer break right now, so I have more time to post things!

For today I decided to do the Netflix book tag. This tag was created by a darker shade of Whitney (on YouTube, link: https://youtu.be/OVrydXU4okw).

Basically you have to answer a couple of Netflix-related questions, so let’s get started!

1. Recently watched; the last book you finished reading.                          Het boek van voorheen by Jen Minkman. This book is a Dutch book. I didn’t really enjoy reading it. It is a stand alone book and a dystopian, these things don’t work well together in my opinion.

2. Top Picks; A book/books that have been recommended to you based on books you have previously read.

In a video of Sasha (abookutopia), she said that if you liked Shatter me by Tahereh Mafi, that you’ll also like the darkest minds by Alexandra Bracken. I can’t thank Sasha enough for this, because it became one of my favourite books of all time! So thank you Sasha ā¤ļø

3. Recently Added; The last book you bought.

Lord of shadows by Cassandra Clare.

I LOVED THIS BOOK.

I was so happy when I got it from the American bookstore. I already knew that I wanted to buy it, so when I saw it, I grabbed it, paid for it and went straight home.

You have to realize that being in a bookstore usually takes me at least like 2 hours…

4. Popular on Netflix

Books that everyone knows about (2 you’ve read and 2 you have no interest in reading)

I’ve read Anna and the French kiss by Stephanie Perkins and a court of mist and fury by Sarah J. Maas.

I have no interest reading (most) high fantasy books.

5. Comedies

A funny book:

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

#GottaLoveDaemon :’)
6. Dramas

A character who is a drama queen/king

I can’t think of a book with a drama queen/ king right now…

7. Animated

A book with cartoons on the cover

I don’t think I’ve read a book with a cartoon on the cover.

Or maybe a Geronimo Stilton book when I was younger?

8. Watch It Again

A book/book series that you want to re-read

I’d like to read the infernal devices by Cassandra Clare again. They were absolutely AMAZING!!!

9. Documentaries

A non-fiction book you’d recommend to everyone

The dairy of Anne Frank.

10. Action and Adventure

An action packed book

The hunger games by Suzanne Collins has ‘some’ action šŸ˜‰

11. New Releases

A book that just came out or will be coming out soon that you can’t wait to read

A court of wings and ruin by Sarah J. Maas. This came out a while ago, but I have to read it because I loved the previous books in this series!

12. Max: Tag some people!!

I tag everyone who wants to do this tag šŸ™‚
This was the book tag, I hope you enjoyed it. If you want to see another book tag, a review or if you have any tips for my blog, please write it in the comments ā¤ļø

Booktube-A-Thon 2016 Tbr

Hey, like you (probably) already know, we’re in the middle of the booktube-A-thon week.Yes, I know that I don’t have a booktube account. But i still wanted to do this, so here are the books that I want to read:

1.Read a book with yellow on the cover:

For this challenge I chose Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling.

2.Read a book ONLY after sunset:

This was kind of a hard one, because I usually don’t read so much after sunset. Here in the Netherlands I’ll have to wait till 9.30 pm or something to read. But the book for this challenge is Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

3. Read a book you discovered through booktube:

With this one I have a lot of books to choose from, but because I’ve heard a lot of great things about A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas and wanted to read it for a long time, I decided to read it.

4.Read a book by one of your favourite authors:

For this challenge I want to read Glass sword by Victoria Aveyard, because I really liked Red Queen. So I really hope I can read it this week!

5. Read a book that is older than you:

I’m going to cheat with this one (Okay kind of ;)), it’s also going to be Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.

6.Read and watch a book-to-movie adaptation:

So for this challenge I decided to read Percy Jackson and the Lightning thief by Rick Riordan. I’ve seen the movie a year ago and started to read te book a couple months later but I never finished it. So my goal is to finish this book :).

7. Read seven books:

I’m going to leave this one open, so I can decide laterĀ  which book I’m going to read.

Okay, this is my TBR for the Booktube-A-thon 2016. I hope I can read all of the books I mentioned, but I’ll be happy if I have read like 3 of the books :’)

Zombie apocalypse book tag

Hi, I knew it has been a while that I posted something, but I’m back now! And because it’s summer break, I can post more šŸ™‚

So for today I wanted to do Ā theĀ Zombie apocalypse book tag. If you don’t know how it works, this is what you do with this tag:

you pick 5 books, you have to answer 10 questions with your books. You can do this by reading the question and opening one of your books at a random page. The first name you see is going to be the answer for that question. You have to make a great team to survive theĀ apocalypse!!

The books I chose:

*The selection

*Harry Potter and the chambre of secrets

*Shatter me

*Clockwork princess

*Lady midnight

1.the first person to die:

Aspen.

I really don’t care šŸ˜…

2.the person you trip to get away from the zombies:

Marlee

3.the first person to turn into a zombie:

Harry,

why harry? There are a million other names and I pick Harry with this question.

4.The person that trips you to get away from the zombies:

Okay seriously, Ron? Really? Okay.

5.The idiot of the team

Adam. I’m fine with this one.

6.The brains of the team:

Warner,

Yas, I might have a chance of surviving!!

7.The teams medic:

Tessa.

If she would have some practice, we’ll be fine.

8.The weapon expert:

OMG, Will! I can totaly see him do that.

9.Ā The brawler:

Cristina. My team is going to be very cool with her.

10.The team captain:

Jules (Julian), I thought Emma would be the captain, but Jules is great too!

So this is My team, maybe we can survive this! I hope you liked this tag, there are going to be many more tags!

Lady Midnight review

I have finished Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. And it was sooooo good! The first part of this review is going to be a non-spoiler review for the people who haven’t read it yet.

The book is about Emma Carstairs, a shadowhunter. Alongside her parabatai, Julian Blackthorn, she fights demons. When the bodies of humans and faeries are found murdered in the same way as her parents, she’s trying to find Out who killed her parents (and the humans and faeries). This is Emma’s chance for revenge and Julian’s chance to get his brother Mark back, who is being held by the faerie Courts. Another thing Emma finds Out is why parabatai can’t fall in love and what Julia has been hiding from her all these years.

– I would recommend Reading the mortal instuments and the infernal devices, before you read this book.

FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN’T READ IT YET,

WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW!!!

ā€¢

ā€¢

Okay, so let’s talk about Emma and Julian. I loved their relationship as parabatai from the beginning, it was like they knew each other better than they knew themselves. The part when Jules told Emma that he loved her was asdfghjklšŸ˜±

But when Emma found out that they would destroy everyone, she told him that she is in love with Mark(?!?!). The thing about that part was that you could feel the pain Julian felt that moment šŸ˜„

And when Emma asked Mark If he could play along with the love story , he asked at the end of the book “Why lie?”

Before I forget this…

I TOTALY DIDN’T EXPECT MALCOLM TO BE THE VILLAN IN THIS BOOK!! At first I didn’t Understand why he would do something like this, but after everything we got to know about his story with Annabel, it made more sense. Speaking of Annabel, she’s alive?! (That was in the epiloque)

So this was My first blog + review of lady midnight!

I hope you liked it!

X Leen
